'Your book initiated me into reading.'
My friend casually mentioned.
'What?' I ask, not sure I heard her right.
'Your book made me a book lover.'

I've tried to find words to describe the deep joy I felt hearing that, but none could do it justice.
My book made her a book lover.
Wow.
My friend's feedback took me back to when I first wrote and put my book out.
I got amazing feedback on it, granted I was a shitty writer at the time.
Years later my friend shared this screenshot of the genesis of her reading journey;

This is special because of what the journey of reading has been to me.
Its subtle stir in my being has been nothing short of compelling and I simply can’t imagine that mine led her on that journey.

My reading journey has been a journey of becoming.
That through different authors and different stories, I have learnt others, learnt self, evolved self and in a big way understood the great importance and utter insignificance of my story.

Years after I put out the first book draft.
I began avidly reading, consuming over 50 books.
Because of this, I decided to reread my first draft.
My God, was I horrified when I first read it.

It was horrible. I cringed the whole time reading.
I was such a rookie, I thought to myself.
Despite that, the overwhelming feeling was that of boundless pride, that I did put my work out there.

I shared my beginner, rookie, book.
And that’s the thing about creating...it is a carousel of lessons and growth.
I’ll probably cringe harder reading this in the future, because if you can’t cringe at your first creation, then are you really growing?

Remember;
Kill the part of you that cringes and Keep the cringe.
Don’t let the cringe die, have it for as long as you can.
After a lot of editing, I published it again and today, I would like to share it with you.
Because my book made her a book lover, here it is, in an attempt to make you one too;
