5 Books to Re-read this 2022

At the beginning of my reading journey, I thought re-reading books was for the 'true readers'.
Beginners like me, I felt, had no capacity to reread. Reading itself at the time, was a heavy habit to start on so how would I re-read an entire book?
As I grew on my reading journey, and encountered magical books, I thought..
'Oh I have to touch this again, lest it leaves me completely.'
Here are 5 books that I intend to touch again, based on their impact on my perspective and mindset.
Before I read this book, I was warped up in an entitlement of my own importance among other belief crutches.
Mark hit me hard with relative truths that to this day, I often go back to and continue to go back to.
Two that particularly stand out are that;
No one cares because they are actually thinking about themselves.
Right in this moment, I have blue hair.
When I walk around and people stare, I get slightly conscious and I could easily bury my head in the sand thinking that everyone is thinking about my hair.
Which is absolutely ridiculous!
Because nobody is!
They might stare it for 5 seconds and think wow...odd/nice.
But I promise you, not a minute will pass by before they go back to thinking about what they'll have for lunch.
Our ego, our irrational dysfunction is deluded into thinking that we are the center.
That when you marry that older man, dye your hair, dance on a tik tok, end that marriage or do something you terribly afraid of; people will have that as their center as opposed to their own lives.
Get out of your head and get over yourself.

When you choose a joy, you must choose it's problem.
When you choose to buy a car, you must choose the problem of servicing it, insuring it and fueling it.
When you choose to have a small intimate wedding, you must choose the problem of upsetting some relatives and friends.
When you chose to have a healthy relationship, you must be okay with heavily uncomfortable conversations.
Before you make a decision, make sure you are okay with the problem.
Or at least, that the joy of your choice is worth the problem.
I would like to re-read this one to remind myself that slow, small and steady compounds like magic.
Particularly this year, for a myriad of reasons I might share as we go along.
James helped me to master the humility of a rookie.
It sucks to be a beginner, I should know.
It requires a real silencing of the ego and a vulnerability to admit that we are not good enough...yet.
5 push ups a day is child's play,
But not so much if it's done for 365 days.
That is a habit made easy and sustainable.
The noise of 60 pushups per day at the gym with fancy equipment is more appealing.
But not so much if we do it for 8 days.
After which we are left with a dwindling belief in our ability to be disciplined and consistent.
Make the process as easy as possible.
Don't fight your laziness, collaborate with it.

On my reading journey, I have stumbled across phenomenal writers who have written phenomenal stories.
For one reason.
Alex writes like how I hope to write.
Simple.
His writing is a map to the writing I aspire to master.
That is why I will re-read this one.
Also it has a great story, so...

This is not a guide book to love.
Thinking about it now pulls at my heart and belly, in a weird mix of joy and sadness.
There are no particular lessons from this book.
Just underlying feelings and a book hangover that might last days.
You know how you feel when you listen to 6lack's voice? That deep ache in his voice that resonates with one within you?
Like his song Outside or Broke me Down by Janine
Yeah... that's this book.

Saving the best for last!
This is one of my top 3 favorite books if not my ultimate favorite book.
It's Oprah's as well, find out why from my previous blogspot.
If you are just starting out, perhaps consider this list or stay tuned as I create one for you.
Thank you for reading!
